It Would Be Far Too Easy To Make A Bad Pun About How Househats Can't Be Stopped With Their New Single Stop Here
Househats are back and they’re back on their bullshit (read: beautiful wholesome ways) of telling you to take care of yourself via the medium of a big ole audible hug with sophomore single Stop.
One of the most truly unique and interesting bands in the country right now, Househats¸ have returned with their brand spankin’ new single Stop. The follow up to their sensational debut All Together and another huge signposting of bigger things to come for the band Stop is simply put, very, very fucking good. A manic drive of drums, bass and riffs fraught with an intangible ability to get stuck in your head built almost entirely on reprises, Stop is an impressive second offering from a band I couldn’t be more excited by.
Thematically falling on the idea of needing to pull the handbrake on life for the sake of your mental health sometimes. Stop is a song of noticing those moments in life when everything is speeding up, spiralling down, getting weighty, feeling a bit too much and all in all requiring you to just gosh darn stop it. Urging narrator and listener to turn it back, go for a walk, have a little lay down and take time to realise it doesn’t have to all matter so much; life doesn’t have to make you nauseous and it’s going to be okay if you miss that party.
Having had the track debut on Triple J’s Home & Hosed Thursday night and premiered on international tastemaker blog We Want Someone To Shout For yesterday, 2018 has seen plenty of ears already pricked in anticipation of the Melbourne three piece’s debut album scheduled for release later in the year.
