You’re About To Fall In Love With Househats’ Impossibly Charming Debut All Together
Melbourne three piece Househats have a sound hard to pin down, falling somewhere in the middle of the DIY folk punk scene, The Bedroom Philosopher and Ball Park Music. Remarkably quirky and nothing but ridiculously charming the trio’s debut All Together is going to have you reaching for the repeat button.
All Together is a three and a half minute romp that gleefully stomps it’s way through an audible maze of twists and turns each more unexpected and delightful than the last; from phone call vocals to the most chantable chorus of the year. The whole track is grounded in hook riddled guitars and a beat steadfast to it’s bounce. There’s nothing expected but nothing out of place in an absolute masterclass of songwriting.
Lyrically an anthem of friendship, survival and getting through the shit fight of self-wallow, anxiety and depression that comes with being twenty something.. Things are all a bit shit and no-one seems to be that okay anymore, but at least together we’re doing alright. Pick up your phone and reach out to someone.
Two weeks on from first hearing All Together and it’s still the background music of my brain. I’m all about everything in this ridiculously great song and everything the band will do from here.
