Premiere: Elk Locker - The Goggles, They Do Nothing / The Accountant
Consistently brilliant, ever growing and very bloody big, Elk Locker are back with a surprise split release right on time for list season.
Up first The Goggles, They Do Nothing is a song of duality flipping between its fundamental chunky riffs, slamming drums and monster choruses with with intricate guitar riffs and emotionally vulnerable verses. A song that beckons you to follow it, stripping itself back before flexing its capabilities and finding a 5th gear.
Second track The Accountant carries the theme of versatility and vulnerability on. A song of grinding through a job you hate to pay the bills, The Accountant, is a big spacious genre melter. Taking elements of hardcore, emo and a few indie fundamentals smashing them together and presenting a bare bones piece of brilliance that throws a fist firmly into the air.
Both tracks would stand strongly on their own as single releases, but to be treated to both in one morning feels pretty bloody luxurious.
If you’re in Canberra be sure to catch Elk Locker next week supporting Stepson at Transit Bar.
