PREMIERE: Hot Sludge Fundae - Put It On
Today announcing their debut album Melbourne six-piece Hot Sludge Fundae are back to tease the release with its sophomore single, and namesake, Put It On; premiering exclusively on Laundry Echo today.
Hot Sludge Fundae are melting pot of a band; hard to place in the current Australian sound. A statement made as a compliment in the purest form. The difficulty in finding a band to anchor their sound in ultimately leaves you with the feeling of having discovered something truly unique in Hot Sludge Fundae. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds screams at you in the commanding nature of the band and their gang vocals, Peter Garrett pops up in the erratic vocal delivery of front-man Dougal Shaw, whilst retro pop sensibility pulls you back to artists like Talking Heads and even Bowie. Oh, and there is saxophone, there is prominent and bloody powerful saxophone that steals the show in every instance it flares up.
This confounding and incredibly impressive sound is ever evident in every element of sophomore single Put It On. Introduced with a punch before rolling out into a dramatically dynamic number that sits somewhere between the lounge and a moshpit. Put It On sounds like a storm, no parts sit still for long enough to become predictable nor do they move on in a way that is expected.
It’s all very bloody impressive from the veritable super group featuring members of Mangelwurzel, Masco Sound System, Breve and Cracodile; who today are announcing not only their debut album, Put It On, but also the vinyl pre-sale for it. Click right here to go get your hands on a copy right now.
Put It On the album will be released on the 8th of May through Marthouse Records, with a big ole' launch party to boot at Yah Yah's on the 11th.
