VIDEO PREMIERE: Reside - Replace Me
Melbourne’s Reside create pristine emo that feels as fresh as it does nostalgic. Latest single Replace Me represents Reside’s strongest release to date, euphoric, anthemic and nothing short of brilliant.
There isn’t a note out of place on Replace Me, a song that instantly grips and consumes its listener. Soaring vocals, beautiful tones and pounding drums leave nothing in the tank by the time the three and half minute masterclass in restraint, release and songcraft has run its due. Replace Me is hard to fault and harder to ignore.
Tackling themes of loss, acceptance and growth, Replace Me’s lyrics are delivered with an ever increasing feeling of catharticism. A surging, fist in the air acclamation of acceptance that exposes a raw vulnerability around every bend on the path to acceptance. The lyric “I still feel like dying sometimes, but I’ll be alright” rings out with the last notes of the song in a way that doesn’t give closure but glimmers hope and normality.
Having recieved its premiere on Triple J’s Home and Hosed and scored a multitude of “song of the week” accolades, Replace Me, poses Reside as a band ready for more. With the imminent release of upcoming EP The Light That You Saw here’s hoping that more is moments away.
